Foxwell Road Upgrade Works & Coomera Activity Centre

SEE Civil undertook the Foxwell Road upgrade and Coomera Activity Centre projects as part of the construction of the Coomera Town Centre master planned area.
Foxwell Road works including widening a section of Foxwell Road and improvements to and construction of new local roads. Foxwell Road was upgraded to provide additional capacity around the new Coomera shopping centre and improve traffic flows to and from the Pacific Motorway in this area.
The Coomera Activity Centre project included the bulk and detailed earthworks and civil works for a future recreational parkland area between the Pacific Motorway and the Coomera Train Station.
Scope of works
Foxwell Road upgrade:
- Widening of 750 metres of Foxwell Road to two lanes in each direction, between Railway Road and the Pacific Motorway exit
- Widening of approximately 640 metres of Railway Road
- Construction of a left-turning lane from Railway Road to Foxwell Road, including reclaiming and providing earth retaining for a portion of the existing Queensland Rail carpark
- Construction of a new local road (Creek Road) providing additional access from Foxwell Road to the new Westfield Coomera shopping centre
- Significant service relocation works including gas, sewer, communications, water and high voltage power
- Extension of a 7-cell culvert to facilitate road widening
- Installation of new drainage infrastructure, diagonally across the Railway and Foxwell Roads intersection
- Complex traffic staging and switches to accommodate construction activities
- Significant liaison with various stakeholders including the shopping centre developer, Queensland Rail, Gold Coast City Council and various utility providers
Coomera Activity Centre
- Bulk and detailed earthworks for the 14 hectare site
- Construction of a signifcant drainage structure and channel at the northern end of the site using pre-cast and cast-insitu concrete elements
- Cut over of Oakey Creek into full creek diversion
- Construction of internal local roads and pedestrian and shared user path ways
- Installation of all service conduits and pits
- Hard and soft landscaping assocaited with future parklands works.
